Doubts Over Barcelona Plot

The government enounced doubt about how related an accused Islamist group may have been to planning suicide attacks in Barcelona, questioning the view of Judge Ismael Moreno of the National Court on Wednesday, when he said that such actions had been inevitable and ordered nine Pakistanis and an Indian arrested last weekend to be kept in custody. On Friday, Interior Minister Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba said the police did not find enough explosives ''to conclude an attack was imminent.'' He also said the accused cell was likely using the explosives for training, but would have attacked later.
