Barcelona Islamists linked to Bhutto murder

According to US Defence secretary Robert Gates, an Islamist terror cell busted in Barcelona last month was linked to Baitulah Mahsud, who is accused of killing Pakistan opposition leader, Benazir Bhutto.

At the annual Conference on Security Policy in Munich last Saturday, Mr Gates stated that "the Barcelona cell seems to be linked with the network led by Baitulah Mehsud, an extremist chief located in Pakistan who has connection to the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and who we consider responsible for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto."

Twelve Pakistanis and two Indians suspected of preparing terrorist attacks in Europe were arrested in Barcelona's Raval district on the 19th January. Ten were subsequently charged.

High Court judge, Ismael Moreno, imprisoned ten of the twelve Islamic terror suspects arrested in Barcelona last Saturday following a seven-hour hearing in Madrid yesterday. Two others were released.
