Congressional tourism


According to the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) in 2006, Spain took fifth place in the world as a place to hold business and international meetings. Possibilities for business activities in the country have nearly 166 cities where there are about 200 different specialized business centers in 750 halls which can accommodate over 500 thousand delegates. There are more than 40 major congress centers, 36 organizations specializing in business tourism, and about a thousand categories 3-5 star hotels with business centers that are congressional opportunities and fund of deployment of 250 thousand rooms. The largest number of events taking place in Madrid and Barcelona hotels - nearly 25% from important meetings, as it can be the most extensive congresses and conventions.

Cities such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Sevilla and Valencia can take up to 5 thousand delegates. Smaller activities often take place in Zaragoza, Bilbao, Alicante hotels, Murcia and many other cities. During last year, in Spain was held about 18 thousand meetings, which was attended by more than 3 million people. 670 thousand of them were foreign delegates.
